The founders bring
together a pool of decades of significant activist experience
combined with professional knowledge in education, governance,
ethnography, psychology, folklore, progressive pedagogy, management
and the dynamics of social movements.
The founders are
mostly seasoned activists who have either started organizations of
their own in the past or have played a significant role in various
social movements on women's issues, Human Rights, peace, democracy
and motivating youth. The rich and varied background of the group is
conducive to creating a new type of experiential learning that has
not been seen before in Pakistan.
The institute and all
the facilities of Mehergarh are totally contributed by the core
members of the Center as a part of their commitment to the cause.
Some of Mehergarh’s programs are run completely on a voluntary
basis. However, modest resources might be sought for other programs.
Members with experience of about 15 - 25 years of activism
contribute their own services free of cost for Mehergarh’s
activities.
